- Undercranking
- the slowing down of a camera's speed so that when the captured pictures are played at the normal
speed the action appears to be in fast
motion. Initially, movie cameras
were hand powered by the operator's turning a crank. Undercranking,
therefore, refers to the operator turning the crank too slowly. See also overcranking
and frames per
second.
