Undercranking
the slowing down of  a camera's speed so that when the captured pictures are played at the normal speed the action appears to be in fast motion. Initially, movie cameras were hand powered by the operator's turning a crank. Undercranking, therefore, refers to the operator turning the crank too slowly. See also overcranking and frames per second.
