Z
- zoom in or forward zoom
- While the camera is still running the cinematographer
increase the length of the zoom lens thereby narrowing the field of
view.
- zoom out or backward zoom or back zoom
- While the camera is still running the cinematographer
decreases the length of the zoom lens thereby widening the field of
view.
- zoom shot, zoom lens
- a shot taken with a lens that has a variable focal length, thereby
permitting the cinematographer to move between a wide-angle shot to a telephoto shot in one continuous movement (zoom in) or
reversed (zoom out/back). There is a subtle difference between the results of a zoom shot
and a dolly shot. In a zoom, the relative positions
and sizes of all objects in the frame remains the same,
whereas in a dolly shot this will
change as the camera moves.
