Facility Closures Across Kincardine and Area

With a blizzard warning in effect across the area and as much as 80cm of snowfall expected, the Municipality of Kincardine has made a series of facility closures due to the weather. The Municipal Administration Centre at 1475 Concession 5, Kincardine, will be closed for the day. Tiverton Sports Centre is closed The pool at the Davidson Centre is closed Landfit at the Davidson Centre is cancelled The Davidson Centre is open for those who can get there safely.

Stoney Island Conservation Area Set to Reopen

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has announced the tree removal project at Stoney Island Conservation Area in Kincardine has wrapped up. The work to remove ash trees at the 98 acre area started in August this year. While the project has changed the area, the SVCA has already kicked off their next phase with trail and forest remediation.... Starting next spring, the conservation authority will hold a public tree planting event with the public....

Saugeen Shores Council Approves 2025 Budget

The Town of Saugeen Shores has approved next year’s budget. The blended tax rate increase which includes municipal, county and education levies is 4.1 per cent. That works out to an increase of about $19 a month for the average household. The Town says that number also includes the increase to the Future Infrastructure Special Levy....

Housing Prices Rise in November

Homes sold across the region are staying above $600,000 according to numbers from the Huron-Perth Association of Realtors. Home sales for November reached 151 units, a jump of 3.9 per cent from the same time last year. On a year to date basis, home sales totaled 1749 units in the first 11 months, up by 8.8 per cent from November 2023....

Court Denies Request For Appeal In Sauble Beach Boundary Decision

The Town of South Bruce Peninsula has been denied a request for appeal in the Sauble Beach boundary court case. The Town was looking to appeal the 2023 boundary claim decision which ruled that all of Sauble Beach, up to a point between 6th and 7th Streets North, (about 2.5 km north of the Sauble Beach sign) is part of Saugeen First Nation’s reserve....

Municipality of Kincardine provides update on Bruce Avenue Reconstruction

The Municipality of Kincardine through Councillor for Ward 1 Beth Blackwell provided an update on the reconstruction project for Bruce Avenue from Wieck to Highway 21. In the post Councillor Blackwell asks for patience in the project as unplanned delays pushed the project past its initial contracted completion date. The plan is to still lay an initial layer of asphalt and reopen the road as soon as possible....
