Port Elgin United Church Coat Drive

While its still warm outside, the changing seasons will see colder weather arrive eventually and to make sure everyone can stay warm for the coming colder weather, the Port Elgin United Church is holding a coat drive. Everyone is welcome to drop off any winter clothing from coats, mittens, hats and boots for kids and adults. A drop off at the church will continue until October 17th with a pickup day for those in need on October 18th....

Saugeen First Nation Artist Designs Special Toronto Argonauts Logo

The work of a Saugeen First Nation artist will be featured on the Toronto Argonauts helmets. The CFL team will be sporting their new gear with art by Emily Kewageshig at their September 28th game against the Montreal Alouettes at 7 p.m. A release from the Argos says it’s a, “Special edition logo to honour the resiliency, strength and enduring spirits of Indigenous peoples...."

Bruce County Staff Directed To Explore Partnership Options For Museum Expansion

Bruce County council will be considering the best way to expand the museum to allow for more storage space. Council had started discussions toward the idea of expanding the museum back in April, but had decided that rather than expanding the existing space, it would be advantageous to lease or build an off-site storage facility. Museum Director Cathy McGirr says that the issue is more than just storage. She says that the museum also needs space for staff to complete their work, and there should also be space for volunteers and researchers to come in and access materials, including the archives....
