Local School Boards Continuing Support to Address Gender Based Violence

AMDSB and the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board are continuing to address support for students navigating gender based violence. Mental Health Leads with the Avon Maitland District School Board, Heather Hirdes and Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board, Kaitie Westbrook alongside the Stop Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee of Perth County hosted this years School Services Advisory Committee Symposium....

Chesley Long-Term Care Home, Parkview Manor Is Closing

A private long-term care home in Chesley is closing, and staff and residents will have to find another place to live or work. A letter to staff from Southbridge Care Homes, has been shared by employees in the community. It’s written by VP of Long-Term Care and Retirement Andrea Loft, and says Parkview Manor in Chesley will close December 31st, 2024....

Saugeen Shores Still Looking For Funding To Protect Pioneer Cemetery

Saugeen Shores continues to look for help to deal with the erosion of its historic Pioneer Cemetery in Southampton. The 1860 cemetery is located at the top of the slope along the Saugeen River in the northeast part of town. Mayor Luke Charbonneau says, “The cemetery was located very close to the edge of the embankment, obviously over the decades, and more than a century that it’s been there, there’s been erosion on the embankment.” He says the graves will fall into the river as erosion continues....
